My Excuse.
Primary Camera: Out for Service.
Secondary Camera: Clearly should also be out for service.
This shot has had no modifications after the press of the shutter.
So yes, it's the end of the month. And no, I didn't get all 26 things in. And yes, being without my cameras is nothing more than an excuse for a lack of creativity. For that, I do apologize.
For all of those that DID finish... and on time... Congratulations are in order.
Thank you all for playing, and watching. I hope you all had a good time, and learned at least one new thing this month. Maybe we'll something different after the first of the year, if anyone is interested.
Happy Holidays!

Important.
Some weekends, it's more important than others.
Shot with a P&S, on a tripod with a couple of unbalanced (in color and power) hot lights for 1.0s, f/4.9, ISO 50, not that I had control over much of that at all. The 40d is going to have to go to the shop for repair... in the mean time, I feel like I'm learning everything all over again. No strobes, no manual control, and on top of that, the P&S errors out about half the time, too. It's going to be a rough couple of weeks.

Entertainment
While I am still a little confused about a band using a chainsaw as a musical instrument, I must admit it was pure entertainment. And in those moments when I was able to take my eyes off of Jackyl, (or had to avert my eyes because the speedo clad drummer stood up) I was thoroughly entertained just watching their fans.
I was shooting Av @ f/4, ISO 800 to get shutter speeds high enough to reduce motion and/or camera blur. Obviously I didn't need a shutter speed of 1/2000 to accomplish this, but my camera seemed to get quirkier as the night went on. It is clearly unhappy with me for exposing its sensor to such things, and will probably need to be returned to Canon for a week or two of therapy.

Light Up.
Light up: That's all this thing has to do. Its only purpose in life. Simply convert electricity into light. How difficult is that, really?
But clearly it was tired. It could not hold on for the 4 additional hours it would have taken to show us the Colts game. It was just too much.
So it exploded. Literally... exploded... BANG! (Possibly imploded, I suppose) You could hear it echo throughout the house, and minutes later, smell it. You know the smell. Burning electronics, really, burning money. That smell never seems to have a cheap fix.
So for the next 10 days, while we wait on the replacement bulb to be shipped, we'll watch Colts games, election results, and Must See TV on a borrowed set. Thanks, G.

Sunday.
This was the highlight of my Sunday... what was yours?
Tv @ 1/125 to show some movement, while also not blurring everything. At an ISO of 640 (to give me more time on the same settings as the sun was setting), this gave me an Ap of 14.0, which is why the 'blur' was added in post. Shot with a 50mm fixed lens to eliminate one more variable while riding.
I thought at the time that maybe I should have pulled over, chimped, backtracked and re-shot. But today was more about the ride than the shoot. So I'll stand by my decision to keep on ridin'.

Shot of a ceiling fan. Needed to slow down the shutter enough to get some motion blur but not too much to make it unrecognizable. It was difficult balancing the motion blur and not over exposing the lights (which they are a bit). I think the effect is pretty intersting.

used some kind of external flash and many many shots to get this satisfactory for both myself and my help. this is definitely a learning experience, but i'm enjoying it (even though i gave you a difficult time jc). thanks for the lesson, looking forward to my next one. =) you really are my best buddy.

I gave an album to my niece today, full of photos from her wedding last month. I really like the album, but I'm pretty sure it's not real leather.
Av @ f/2.8, ISO 3200 to gain as much light as possible in this dimmly lit room. (Which still only got me to 1/50)
